About AIME
The International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIME) has served as a foundational gathering for the global AI-in-health community for over 40 years. The series began in Pavia, Italy, in 1985, and shortly after, in 1986, the Society for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine was formally established. Its goals remain deeply relevant today:
to foster both fundamental and applied research on the use of artificial intelligence in medical care and biomedical science, and
to provide a recurring international forum for the presentation, discussion, and dissemination of significant scientific results.
AIME is more than a conference series; it has become a collaborative tradition uniting clinicians, computer scientists, biomedical researchers, and health system leaders to advance intelligent systems in healthcare. The AIME community is committed to scientific excellence, clinical relevance, and ethical responsibility, fostering open dialogue and lasting relationships. Over the years, AIME has significantly influenced the field, evolving from expert systems to modern machine learning and real-world applications. Each edition continues this legacy while addressing new opportunities and challenges at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine.
Now celebrating its 41st year, AIME 2026 marks the 24th edition of this prestigious event. Hosted at the University of Ottawa, AIME 2026 will bring the global community together once again to reflect, connect, and look forward to the future of AI in medicine. The conference will offer a unique opportunity to engage with global leaders, present transformative research, and shape the future of AI in medicine.
Join us in Ottawa, Canada, for the premier conference at the intersection of AI and medicine. Explore groundbreaking research, cutting-edge applications, and visionary insights from academia and industry.
